Contrast-
For my partner, Miranda, and I's contrasting shot, we chose to show contrast between an empty and busy hallway during school. The empty hallway shot was taken while everyone was in class, while the second was taken in between classes. While in the same location, the clear difference in activity is where the contrast is visible in our first edit.
Parallelism-
For our parallelism shot, we took videos of Miranda and I walking on a ledge. The shots were parallel because of the similarity of action, location, pace, and other factors. The shots reflected each other,
Symbolism-
Our symbolism shot was taken by zooming into a Lely varisty letter, before zooming out of a bench reading "Lely Trojans." The L shape was the common symbol. We also chose it because Miranda and I have a lot of school spirit and truly love Lely, so we wanted to center our edit around that.
Simultaneity-
For Simultaneity, we took different shots at the same time during lunch. Some shots were taken in classrooms, at lunch tables, or of a crowd heading into Nations Square. All of these things happen simultaneously at lunch time which is why we chose them to edit together for our simultaneity edit.
Leitmotiff-
Our leitmotiff edit centered around water. We used the water fountain as a shot we could show again and again to cement what our motif in the edit was. In between the water fountain shots, we added shots of our friends drinking water. The element of drinking water was the motif, or common theme, throughout this edit.
