Five Master Shots With Sound
Five Master Edits with Sound Video
Sound Bridge: For our leit motif edit, we decided to use a sound bridge to help display the theme present throughout. Since our edit was of people drinking water cut with shots of a water fountain, we added the sound of trickling water in the background. This shows the common theme of water throughout. The sound helps the viewer see the connection between the ideas.
Post Synchronization Dubbing: For our parallelism edit we added in the sound of crunching leaves to put more emphasis on the walking feet. This is also a form of diegetic sound because it is a sound that could occur normally. The sound makes a viewer feel as if they are there as well. We also used post synchronization dubbing for our contrast edit by adding in the sound of crickets and a bustling hallway. The crickets are non diegetic sounds and would not be in a scene normally. However, cricket sounds are commonly associated with silence or emptiness, so we used this ton help portray the emptiness of the hallway and to help viewers recognize this. The second part of the edit used diegetic busy hallway sounds to show how loud and different it was from before. While the sound of the hallway could happen naturally, we added louder hallway sounds than what were directly there to create a greater contrast between the two clips and to help the viewer see the contrast.
Direct Sound: For our Simultaneity edit, we kept the direct sound because it helped to show how everything was happening at once. We wanted the viewer to feel as if they could be in any of the moments, so we chose to use the direct sound.
Music: For our Symbolism edit, we added in music. We added the triumphant music to help show the symbolism of the L in the first clip to the phrase "Lely Trojans" in the next clip to help show the nature of Lely Trojans and their fighting spirit. The sound helps the viewer to feel a sense of pride and energy behind the phrase, "Lely Trojans."

Kiley, great video! I loved the leitmotif edit and the sound and your video was so aesthetically pleasing! Terrific Job!
ReplyDeleteI thought that the sound bridge you used in the leitmotif edit was really well done, I liked how you linked the different clips not just visually but also aurally. I also really liked the music you guys used for your symbolism edit, it was kind of funny and it made me laugh!
